We are seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Clinic Receptionist to join a healthcare team in New York, NY. This position will serve as one of the first points of contact for patients and visitors while providing front-desk and administrative support to the clinic.
The ideal candidate is professional, patient-focused, and comfortable working in a busy medical environment. Previous healthcare experience is helpful but not required for all positions, as training may be provided.
JOB INFORMATION
Position: Clinic Receptionist
Pay: $19.50 – $24.50 per hour, depending on experience
Location: New York, NY
Employment Type: Full-time / W-2
Work Arrangement: On-site
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional Saturday coverage
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Answer incoming phone calls and direct patients to the appropriate department.
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
- Collect and update basic patient demographic information.
- Assist with patient registration and intake forms.
- Verify basic insurance information according to office procedures.
- Collect co-payments and other patient payments when applicable.
- Respond to routine questions regarding appointments, office procedures, and clinic services.
- Maintain accurate patient information in electronic systems.
- Communicate with medical staff regarding scheduling and patient flow.
- Receive and distribute mail, documents, and other office materials.
- Maintain an organized and welcoming reception area.
- Protect patient privacy and follow applicable confidentiality procedures.
- Assist with general administrative tasks as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous receptionist, customer service, office, or healthcare experience is preferred but not always required.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Spanish or another additional language is a plus.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with email and office software.
- Professional and friendly communication style.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and helpful in a busy environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to handle patient information with discretion and confidentiality.
