We are seeking a friendly, professional, and dependable Banquet Server to join a hospitality team in Chicago, IL. This position will support catered events, conferences, weddings, corporate functions, and other special occasions by providing attentive food and beverage service to guests.
The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team. Previous banquet, restaurant, or hospitality experience is preferred but not required, as training may be provided.
JOB INFORMATION
Position: Banquet Server
Pay: $17.00 – $22.00 per hour, depending on experience and event assignment
Location: Chicago, IL

Work Arrangement: On-site / Event-based
Schedule: Primarily evening and weekend shifts, with additional weekday events depending on the event calendar
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare banquet rooms and event spaces before guests arrive.
- Set tables with linens, plates, silverware, glassware, and other required items.
- Welcome guests and provide courteous, professional service throughout events.
- Serve food and beverages according to event and venue standards.
- Refill beverages and assist guests with reasonable requests.
- Clear plates, glasses, and other items from tables during and after service.
- Maintain clean and organized dining and service areas.
- Assist with buffet setup, replenishment, and breakdown when assigned.
- Communicate guest requests and service issues to supervisors or event staff.
- Assist with moving tables, chairs, service equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Follow food handling, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist with event setup and cleanup before and after functions.
- Work closely with other banquet servers, kitchen staff, bartenders, and event supervisors.
- Provide professional service while maintaining a positive and welcoming attitude.
REQUIREMENTS
- No college degree or formal hospitality education required.
- Previous banquet, restaurant, catering, hotel, or customer service experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Professional and courteous attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced event environment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to carry trays, dishes, beverages, and other service items as required.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Basic English communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when scheduled.
