We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Kitchen Helper to support the kitchen team at a restaurant or food service operation in New York, NY. This position will assist with basic food preparation, cleaning, stocking, and general kitchen duties to help maintain an efficient and organized work environment.
The ideal candidate is reliable, willing to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen. Previous restaurant or food service experience is helpful but not required, as training may be provided.
JOB INFORMATION
Position: Kitchen Helper
Pay: $17.50 – $21.50 per hour, depending on experience and location

Schedule: Flexible shifts available, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist cooks and kitchen staff with basic food preparation.
- Wash, peel, cut, and prepare ingredients according to instructions.
- Organize ingredients and supplies before food preparation and service.
- Assist with portioning and preparing food items.
- Keep food preparation stations clean and organized.
- Wash and sanitize utensils, cookware, and kitchen surfaces.
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing food and kitchen supplies.
- Check basic inventory levels and inform supervisors when supplies are running low.
- Remove trash and recycling from designated kitchen areas.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors as needed.
- Assist with cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties.
- Provide support to cooks and other kitchen staff during busy service periods.
REQUIREMENTS
- No college degree or formal culinary education required.
- Previous kitchen, restaurant, food service, or cleaning experience is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to learn basic food preparation and kitchen procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions and established safety procedures.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry food supplies and kitchen items as required.
- Comfortable working around heat, water, cleaning products, and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic English communication skills preferred.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
