We are seeking a skilled and dependable Surgical Technologist to support surgical teams in a healthcare facility in San Diego, CA. This position assists surgeons, nurses, and other clinical staff before, during, and after surgical procedures by preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring that necessary instruments and supplies are available.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to remain focused in a fast-paced surgical environment. Previous operating room experience and the required professional credentials are strongly preferred.
JOB INFORMATION
Position: Surgical Technologist
Pay: $31.00 – $43.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Location: San Diego, CA

Work Arrangement: On-site
Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week, with rotating weekends, holidays, or on-call coverage depending on department needs
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare operating rooms for scheduled surgical procedures.
- Set up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies before procedures.
- Assist the surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment.
- Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and other members of the surgical team as directed.
- Perform surgical counts of instruments, needles, sponges, and other supplies according to facility procedures.
- Assist with positioning and preparing patients for surgery within the scope of the role.
- Help maintain and organize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures.
- Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent procedures.
- Handle surgical specimens according to established facility procedures.
- Follow infection-control, sterilization, and patient-safety protocols.
- Report equipment or supply issues to the appropriate department.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to surgical procedures.
- Follow hospital policies, professional standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent education required by the employer.
- Current certification or eligibility for applicable surgical technology credentials, such as CST, depending on the position.
- Current BLS/CPR certification may be required.
- Previous operating room or surgical technology experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instruments, and operating-room procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to remain calm and focused during complex or time-sensitive procedures.
- Must meet applicable California requirements and facility credentialing standards.
